Mimi's Cafe, the popular neighborhood cafe, serving up French-inspired American comfort food, recently asked its guests to develop Mimi's next great entree for a chance to win a trip to France! I wish I would've known about this because France is definitely on mybucket list! Out of more than 175 recipes developed by Mimi's guests, the winning recipe was none other than this Honey Lavender Pork Chop! It will be featured on the menu beginning September 19th and I was lucky enough to preview it earlier this week!
First and foremost, this is a beautiful dish! They say you eat with your eyes first and I promise I took a million pictures of it before diving in! It has all of the flavors that would remind you (well it reminded me) of fall! It's a center-cut pork chop lightly glazed with honey, herbs de Provence and lavender, grilled to perfection. It's paired with a mixed green salad made with green apples, cranberries, goat cheese, toasted walnuts, roasted potato croutons tossed with balsamic dressing!! I could taste every last ingredient I just mentioned! How often does one get to say that? YUM!!!
While I was there, I also had the opportunity to sample some of their delicious pasta dishes! Pictured above is Mimi's Simmered Meat Sauce Pasta! It was everything you want in a comforting bowl of pasta. It's made with Campanelle noodles which are perfect for housing flavor, a delicious meat sauce, and lots of Parmesan cheese!
The jambalaya pasta below was everything you would imagine it to be! Spicy, with all of the New Orleans inspired flavors including Andouille sausage and chicken! It was delicious!
No meal is complete without a sweet treat at the end! Just in time for fall, Mimi's Cafe has brought back their delicious Spiced Pumpkin Muffin! If you received my September newsletter, you know how much I love Pumpkin Spice! Of course I love that there was cream cheese icing but my favorite part of this muffin was the pumpkin seeds! They added an extra crunch which is always nice!
It was the perfect ending to a very fall influenced meal.
If you enjoy a lovely cut of pork, you don't want to miss out on this Honey Lavender Grilled Pork Chop. The flavors mesh beautifully together. Specialty menu items are only for a limited time so stop by your nearest Mimi's and try this dish before it's gone. The pasta dishes and spiced pumpkin muffin are not to be missed either.
