Hey Dolls,
CANDY & COCKTAILS
I recently attended a media dinner at The Candy Apple Cafe and Cocktails (see review here) and learned a lot about great events they host that I didn't know about before!
By the way, I'm still in love with the decorative apples they have on the counters inside of the cafe!
Though I've been several times, the whimsy and being awestruck never gets old when I walk into Sweet Pete's!
Just seeing this tablescape made me anxious for what the night was to bring! Do you see the white apples?

CANDY & COCKTAILS
One Friday a month, from 6:30pm-8pm, Sweet Petes features light nibbles, an interactive candy demo, and a signature cocktail bar. These signature cocktails are made with a sweet treat and I can't think of a better place to have a cocktail made with candy!
Our fabulous bartenders were picture ready and eager to make these craft candy cocktails...and quite frankly so was I!
Soooooo, do you you see what he's adding to the glass?
Yep, that's right! POP ROCKS!!!
This was for the cocktail, Pop Rockadopolis! It is made with Tito's Vodka, Cointreau, Lime Juice, Cranberry, and yes, good ole-fashioned Pop Rocks!

My anticipation was seriously growing as I watched him shake up the vodka! I was thinking "...those are going to pop like crazy once he adds the drink to the glass?"
It absolutely did snap, crackle, and pop! My excitement was like a kid in a candy shop...pun intended! Needless to say, this poppin' cosmo was fantastic!
My second drink was the Sweet Pete's Watermelon Sour.
For the event it came non-alcoholic with watermelon puree, watermelon pucker, lime juice, and a cute little sour watermelon gummy on top! This was a great drink and you really don't miss the alcohol.
While enjoying candy cocktails, I couldn't resist taking a picture of this gorgeous room filled with bright colors, beautiful chandeliers, and of course, candy!
After cocktail hour, we made our way to the third floor for the interactive candy-making demo! We were greeted with this lovely table of hors d'oeuvres!
Our candy expert gave us a great lesson on what goes into making a lollipop!
Lots of heat and LOTS of sugar!!!
Once he added the watermelon flavoring to the hot sugar, the smell was divine!
There was a lot of scraping and rolling of the ball of sugar
Then lots of pulling.
Between the heat from the hot sugar, the excessive rolling, then constant pulling, I would imagine a candy maker gets a heck of an arm workout by the end of the day!
After the candy cooled some, we were able to make lollipops!
You have to move quick because it hardens as it cools.
This was my attempt to make a round lollipop.....
HA! I called it a lolli-rose because that definitely was not the shape of a round lollipop! Making it was a lot of fun though! This is a perfect activity for a girls night out, first date, and even for kids (minus the cocktails, of course)! It is a ticketed event so advance purchase of a $35 ticket is necessary to partake in all the fun! Click hereto read about other events they offer!
DINNER
After the festivities with candy and cocktails, we made our way back down stairs to partake in a five-course meal prepared by the very talented Executive Chef, Jamey Evoniuk.First Course: Baby Arugula Salad
Made with Goat Cheese, Candied Pecans, Pickled Onion, Golden Tomato, ans Pommery Mustard Vinaigrette.
This salad was delicious. The ingredients paired together perfectly. My favorite was the candied pecans.
Second Course: Mini Duck Confit Crepes & Sauteed Escargot
These were delicious as well. We wanted to finish all of them but decided to save room for the rest of our meal.
The Sauteed Escargot was made with Wild Mushrooms, Vol-au-Vent, and Sherry. It was very flavorful and the flowers on the plate were so pretty.
Third Course: Mango Snapper with Sauce Gribiche and Short Rib Meatloaf with Port Reduction
These were served with brown butter whipped potatoes and petite vegetables. I've had both of these before when I visited Candy Apple Cafe in the past and knew we were in for a treat with this course. Amazing!
Fourth Course: Grilled Local Wahoo
Made with Thai Curry Broth and Snow Pea Stir-Fry. Beautiful dish.
Pistachio Crusted Rack of Lamb
Made with root vegetable hash, roasted cauliflower, and pommery beurre rouge.
Dessert
Banana Trifle Brulee
This was absolutely amazing! It was made with vanilla custard, banana bread, and crisp wafers.
Callebaut Chocolate-Almond Dacquoise Torte
This was also phenomenal! It was made with espresso buttercream. It melted in your mouth. Simply divine!
This evening was nothing short of amazing! I met a lot of wonderful people and got to experience a little bit of what The Candy Apple Cafe and Sweet Petes duo has to offer. From corporate events, weddings, parties, and field trips to candy cocktails, soulful jazz dinners, and chocolate pizza parties, there is something to fit everyone's entertainment palette. If you haven't been to Sweet Pete's and The Candy Apple Cafe, I highly recommend you add it to your bucket list!
It's "The Sweetest Destination on Earth"!
As always, thanks so much for stopping by!
