Hi Dolls!
While enjoying all that five-points has to offer, a friend and I dipped into Derby on Park to get a little breakfast before the lunch crowd piled in! I've always noticed it on the corner of Park street and to my surprise it has been a staple in this area since the 40's! In my mind, with that kind of history, it was destined to be a treat!
While reading the sign outside of the diner to make sure we hadn't missed breakfast, we were greeted by one of the cooks who sold us on their amazing dishes. He was so nice we couldn't pass up the invitation to dine in. He even asked me to take his picture!
The inside looked like an old-school diner that has received a contemporary facelift!
Very inviting. I loved the bar stools!

Oak Street Toast: This was my friend's dish and let me tell you how jealous I was that I didn't order it! This picture does it no justice. Do you see how thick the slices are?!?! They used thick slices of ciabatta bread dipped in a sweet vanilla and bourbon batter. It's then grilled and finished with a drizzle of rum caramel sauce! YUM!!!! I probably ate more of her dish than she did. She got bacon as her choice of a side.
Croissant Breakfast Sandwich: This was my dish! I absolutely LOVE croissants! This breakfast sandwich came with a thick slice of ham and cheddar cheese, a pile of scrambled eggs and buttery croissant. I had the choice of grits or house potatoes for the side and went with the latter. Since I munched off of my friends dish, I only had room for half of my own. It was good, however, the eggs and potatoes could have used more seasoning.
We had an awesome time! The food was good and the staff was quite the entertainment! Ryan "With the Ruby Red lips" was our nice waitress and remember the cook from the picture earlier? Well he was quite intrigued with us because the entire hour and a half we sat in the diner, he couldn't keep his eyes off of us. We would catch him staring from the kitchen lol! Well it's nice to know we still got it going on!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
Have a wonderful day!
XOXO
