PDQ Fresh Tour

Hi Dolls,

I was recently invited to do a Fresh Tour of the Julington Creek PDQ and since I'm relatively familiar with the franchise, as they always "hook" teachers up during Teacher Appreciation Week, I was excited for the opportunity to do the tour and find out a little more about what PDQ is all about!

One can't help but wonder what P.D.Q. stands for and I found out that it stands for "People Dedicated to Quality" and after my tour I understand why.
This particular location has been open for about a year now and is literally the first restuarant you see when entering Julington Creek.  The inside is very clean and spacious and I love the handwashing station!  I can honestly say that I've never seen this in a restaurant outside of the restroom.
The first thing I noticed when I walked in were the cases of Cheerwine stacked up near the counter.
I discoverd that Cheerwine is a cherry flavored soft drink that originated out of North Carolina.  It's not too often you come across a cherry flavored soda so it is definitely a nice alternative to your regular sodas.
However, if you're not one for change, no worries, PDQ has tea and all the Coke products you can think of!
We began the tour in the back where I was informed that they have no freezers so no need to worry about pre-packaged, frozen food. They have a walk-in fridge that keeps everything properly chilled.  Everything is freshly made to order which is always a plus.  There's nothing worse than getting premade food.
I also learned that all of their sauces are made in house.  They have some pretty awesome sauces.  They offer honey mustard, bbq, and ranch, just to name a few.  My favorite is the Honey BBQ.
Next stop was "the fries" (SIDENOTE:  The movie Coming To America" just popped in my head! I'm sure my movie buffs know why!!!lol!) Anywho, I digress.  Besides, chicken tenders, PDQ is well-known for their hand-cut fries.
Before added to the fryer, fresh Idaho potatoes are cut into fries, cleaned and soaked to rinse off all of the extra starch, baked, and chilled.  This gets rid of a lot of unnecessary things we don't need.  No frozen bags of fries here!
I learned that not only do they sell chicken tenders, but chicken breast, turkey, and most recently chicken nuggets,  All of this was a surprise to me because I thought they only sold chicken tenders.
One of PDQ's emphasis is on fresh ingredients which are prepared daily.
Most people love a good piece of fried chicken, whether it be a nugget, tender, or breast but PDQ recently created a sandwich called "The Chelsey" which is a little more of a healthier option (with the exception of bacon.....but I will always and forever want the bacon!).
The sandwich comes with a juicy piece of grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, ranch dressing, and my two favorites...bacon and avocado! I love good food with out the guilt.
The chicken nuggets may give some of my favs from another franchise a run for the money.  They're a little bigger, good flavor, and you have more dipping sauces to choose from.....uh oh!
Then there's this guy...the handspun cookies and creme milkshake!  Seriously one of the best shakes I've had, to date!

Overall, I can say that after my behind the scenes Fresh Tour, I understand how PDQ is able to live up to their name!  A lot of effort is put into making the food as fresh as possible.  I can definitely appreciate that, especially from a fast-food establishment.  Not only do they prepare fresh and quality food, the customer service is impeccable.  I can see PDQ being aropund for a while.   I learned that there are now 3 PDQs in Jacksonville!  If your in the Julington Creek area, definitely check them out and thank me later.
As always, thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend!
XOXO
