When I was in Atlanta a few weeks ago, my friends and I ventured out to Inman Park, a really cute and quirky area on the east side of Atlanta. While there we went into Twigg & Co. to customize chocolate bars. I stumbled upon their Instagram page when looking for places to go for brunch in Atlanta and I thought that customizing chocolates was the cutest idea! You can also customize frozen bananas as well. I think those will be the perfect, healthy treat for the upcoming summer months.
We got to meet the shopkeeper, Jacklyn Dejonckheere who educated us on their chocolates and the process of making the bars. She was an absolute delight!
We learned that at Twigg & Co., chocolate is promoted as a healthy food with an emphasis on all of the health benefits associated with it. The chocolate is ground in house from cacao beans and is full of nutrients and antioxidants known for lowering blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases. I mean who wouldn't want to indulge in chocolate with health benefits. I personally prefer dark chocolate anyways (especially with a nice glass of cabernet!)
There are several toppings to choose from including walnuts, smoked sea salts, pecans, crystallized BACON, coconut, and Goji berries, just to name a few! They also have more kid-friendly toppings like sprinkles, marshmallows, and gummy bears.
One of the things I liked the best was learning that with each chocolate bar or frozen banana purchase, Twigg & Co. will donate a Theobrama Cacao plant to a cacao farmer. I makes you feel great knowing that your small contribution of $5.50 is creating more biodiversity and helping preserve cacao trees. I mean, I seriously can't imagine a world without good chocolate!
They even have really cute envelopes from a local printer called Blue Canoe Letterpress. There's even a mailbox in house so you can mail you chocolate bar creations as a gift. So cute!
The customary envelopes are just as precious!
You can also design baskets with custom chocolate bars. Perfect gift ideas for any occasion!
I think their concept is a wonderful and healthy alternative for a snack! The next time I'm in Atlanta, I'll definitely be making a stop into Twigg & Co.! I'm going to try the frozen banana next go round!
